His paintings emanate from nature, which for him is not only the living beings, the landscapes not is the primitive state of existence, nature for him involves an interaction with the outer world from within, a dialogue of evanescent lives with the infinite time. Figures and forms, colors and lines guise nature, making it only when his intuitive self recognizes the many transient visions and thus, by taking the guise always, derives a compendious idea of the format entity. His yearning for this succinct form, ordinates his intuitive self into that of a painterâ™. His paintings plunges into color and form; sometimes the form may subside to give way to the color and at other times the color may itself become the form. All along this subtle transition, his visual sentiment guides the plunge of the painting. At times the world of his paintings is content with a mere drop of black ink, and then there are times when they find solace in the comb toothed crest or ridge of a wooden plaque. This process is complete only when he becomes one with form, color, line, wood, paper, water, oil, pencil and inks. Dev Mehta
Devâ™ has been an inspiration to many. By getting the freedom of exploring different mediums at such a young age has got him a broad perspective to what we would call ‘sky is the limitâ™.For Dev, every painting he paints is completely different from one another. He likes his paintings to be raw with imperfection in it. He sees imperfection in a painting as a stroke of genius. He comes up with very unusual ideas in his paintings with eclectic color combinations. Canvas, colors, brushes, knives, tools – art is a way of communication for an artist. His paintings and vision offer a perspective of a modern era of the future. He uses different mediums on different surfaces like linen, canvas, and jute with unusual combinations. Experience is a virtue. Looking at his work puts the viewers inside a moment to experience laughter, sadness, guilt, bliss, and confusion .Works on archival paper with markers and charcoal gives a feeling of modernity and a renaissance behind it. The intricacies and detailing of each give the resemblance of different cultures on one hand and a very cubist figure on the other. His works & nbsp ;portrays & nbsp; abstraction, expressionism, modernism and cubism. Currently, he is looking at how to balance between the Persian and Mughal influences in his paintings as well as the cubism which would constitute the idea of ‘Paper Period’
